Auto journalism about self driving cars is weak. There are car writers who know what questions to ask about suspension and drivetrain, but have no clue how to evaluate a self-driving car. They don't even ask the basic questions - what's the sensor suite, how does it detect an obstacle, what does it do if a sensor becomes obscured, how does it handle a car blocking a lane? They could follow a Cruise self-driving car around SF and get pictures of how it behaves. (Not a company-controlled demo.) We're not seeing that in Motor Trend, and we should.
Uninformed punditry is not helping.
