    0. I conscientiously object here on HN with shitposts, because I think HN is slightly too pretentious, and something important is lost in the dry demeanor.

At some point, @jcs of lobste.rs complained of, quote: "capricious modding" and I think that much rings true.

Perhaps most crucial, is the undeniable reality, that once you place a comment on HN, you are no longer the owner. You lose the ability to delete or edit very quickly, and the statements posted here become locked and permanent. With this, it is ill-advised that an authentic persona should ever become attached to any user name on HN. If your opinions run contrary to political winds in this climate, real problems could come your way, and in an emergency, there is no way to disentangle yourself for data that exists on this site.

That's okay, since HN is decidedly low-fi in many ways. But based on this, you'de hope for a lighter, more permissive hand on the moderation. Not so. Not at all.

So, with an iron fist in play, why pull ones own punches. Let the harshest opinions fly, if they'll assuredly be stamped out by such stifling interference. No need to feel guilty for resisting the iron fist. After all, opinions on the internet aren't really what's wrong with the world right now. It's just an oh so popular scape goat.

How do you like my objections to HN's subculture? Conscientious enough?
